I know it’s spring and this photo is so-not-springy, but my card reader is broken and I can’t upload any of my recent photos. So, I’m sharing an old one that I love of my kiddos, but I never had a chance to edit. My husband was teasing me this weekend about fall being my favorite season, “How can fall be your favorite season when you know winter is right around the corner?” He has a point and with this gorgeous weather we’ve been having… I may have to change my mind.
When I was in my oh-so-awkward tween years, our family went on vacation to Wildwood, NJ. One night on the boardwalk, my parents let me buy a shirt that said “Redheads Are More Daring.” I can only imagine how funny this must have been to my parents; wearing that shirt is probably the most daring thing I had ever done at that point. This picture makes me smile because my kiddo is a lot like her momma, but now and then, I see glimpses of a little wild-child in her. Not too much though please.

Claire and I have something in common: our Mom’s work together at a year-round Christmas store. And, like Claire, I also worked there as a college student during my breaks home from school. When I heard she needed some photographs done for head shots, I knew it would be a fun session—you have to have a pretty good sense of humor to decorate Christmas trees all year. What we don’t have in common though is how this girl can WORK the camera. Hellooooo beautiful. My friend and talented photographer, Sarah Wilkerson, and I had a great time chasing Claire around Old Town. Claire was up for anything and didn’t bat an eye when we were scolded for taking photos in a courtyard (I swear we didn’t know it was private property!). It’s no surprise that this starlet is studying acting at NYU. The paparazzi will be chasing her in no time and I can say “I knew her when…”

Congratulations on your launch, Jody; I’m so happy for and proud of you! Your amazing and embracing personality brings out the beauty in everyone before your lense. What a talent to be able to create and capture that. Good luck!

Our brood berry picking in the Virginia countryside last Fall. I’m not sure the berries even made it to the car.
