“wake up in the house of you’ve been dreaming of”
This sign was taped to my friend’s bedroom door the day she moved into her house by her father and its been up ever since. As you may have figured out, it’s fairly easy to make me tear up, so when I saw this, that’s exactly what I did. And then I anxiously waited for the day I could do a photo session with them.
I first met Alison when I moved into our neighborhood a few years ago. She grew up in our neighborhood and moved back here to raise her own family (our neighborhood kicks butt). Our families have a lot in common: Our kids (girl-boy-girl) are the same age and are buddies, we listen to a lot of the same music (you know–the good stuff), her husband (Shane) and I are military brats and both lived in East Asia, and I drool over their home (if you look out the window you’d see their boat and dock) and mid-century danish furniture (some made by her grandfather!). Oh, and we love VWs (although I am pretty sure Shane loves them more)! Besides all of that, they really are the nicest family and are one of the big reasons I love our neighborhood so much.
You can imagine how giddy I was when we finally booked this session. I was d-y-i-n-g to shoot a lifestyle home session with little or no posing–just capturing the everyday activities of a family at home–and I knew they would be the perfect family for that type of session. They gave me free reign and I ♥ them for it. Oh, and come on (!) how gorgeous are they?! This will always be one of my favorite.sessions.ever.

You are constantly expressing your talent in new and beautiful ways. I get such joy looking at your photography; if I feel this from looking what you have captured of strangers lives, I can’t imagine the rush of emotion they feel seeing the special moments you allow them to relive.
